Manual data protection vs. automatic data protection

In the digital world, where websites are constantly being updated and improved, it’s easy to lose track of the plugins and tools you’re using.
Hand on heart, how often do you actually check whether a plugin you use on your website has changed?
And if so, do you also check what data is being collected by this plugin?
Most of us would admit that we don’t do this on a regular basis.
But with the new Data Protection Act, this is becoming a key requirement.

Legal texts are texts that you don’t just write. The new Data Protection Act is 34 pages long and describes which violations can be punished with a fine. That alone should be reason enough to keep your legal texts up to date. With “Legally ok” you are on the safe side. A privacy policy, an imprint and a cookie banner are generated for you, which you only have to integrate into your website.

Manual creation with potential for data protection gaps

In the case of manual writing, every change must be checked by a lawyer or a person familiar with data protection. This can become really expensive and time-consuming in the long term.

Until now, most website operators have proceeded in this way:
Either they resorted directly to a lawyer or they used a data protection generator. After a few entries, this produced a finished text. But is this also sufficient for the new data protection law? Especially with all the web apps and plugins, a lot is changing in the area of data protection. These changes are not covered by the static text that was initially written. This creates a gap that leaves room for violations of the Data Protection Act.

Legally ok, not only efficient, but also simple

Manual changes are time-consuming, especially if, as on a typical business website, 6 – 15 plugins are used, which can change monthly (updates, new settings, etc.) and should therefore be checked monthly for compliance with data protection law. Web applications such as Google Analytics 4 or similar, which are integrated on the website, also offer a constantly changing environment to which it is essential to react. Software can process and adapt these large volumes of data in a short space of time, making the process much faster than manual adjustments. “Legally ok” does just that.

With Legally, you create an account and enter your website. Then you fill out the questionnaire, which serves as the basis for the content of your site. Finally, you integrate the plugin with the help of simple instructions. Et voilà! Your website is ready for the new data protection law.

The highlight, however, only happens with the ongoing operation of Legally ok. Web and Pro subscription customers who have integrated Legally ok on their websites are checked monthly for their plugins and web applications. If a change has been made there, Legally ok registers this and automatically adapts the legal texts to the changed conditions. So you are protected around the clock.

Ultimately, it remains an individual decision as to which approach to take. But the advantages of the automatic legal texts from “Legally ok” are obvious – they enable up-to-date, legally compliant legal texts in a simple and reliable way. Be proactive and protect your website and your company.

Do a lightscan of your site now and make sure your website is ready.
